23 THINGS SUMMARY

Whew, I finally made it. This has been a journey of trial and errors. I did learn some new things because I have never done any blogging before or searched some of the sites. I enjoyed the Library Things, Library 2.0 Awards Winners, Wiki, Flickr and Web Fea. There were some sites that was too advanced for me. I'm unsure about participating in another progam.

AUDIO BOOKS

I Checked out Lean Mean Thirteen. Stephanie Plum is New Jersey bounty hunter. She is reunited with her two timing lawyer ex-husband, Dickie Orr, while doing a favor for the mysterious, sexy Ranger. Dickie disappears from his house leaving behing only bloodstains and bullet holes, Sttephanie,becomes the prime suspect in his alleged murder. I found podcast to be interesting. Some Libraries have books that reads to you. This is extremely helpful to someone that is visually impaired.

I chose Seasons Change video because there are so many changes in our daily lives. There are changes in our family, jobs, and friends. The world around us in which we live is rapidly changing every day. Therefore we must change in order to keep up with the changes being made each day. A baby is born, it changes from a child, to a teenager and then an adult. As the sun rises a new day begins, yesterday is gone and will never be again. We know nothing stays the same. Nothing lasts forever.

I enjoyed searching You tube. It is a fun site you can find all sorts of videos on this site.

You tube can be of use in the library for videos of the programs in the library.

WEB 2.0 AWARD WINNERS

I chose the iFoods. I really enjoyed this site beacuse I love to cook. If you are a beginner cook, you can follow the video step by step for instructions . It also list the ingredients needed and how long it takes to cook. This could be used in a library setting with a video instructing patrons such as, how to renew their items or place holds online.

ZOHO

It was easy to use. It has a lot of online applications in one place. I'm not sure about sharing documents others because someone else can get in and get your information.

PBCLS WIKI

I had lots of fun doing this. Adding to a wiki is very easy to do. If you are not technology inclined like myself that's no problem.

WIKIS

They are fun and easy, especially for people like myself, who are not technology inclined. It is a good way to communicate between coworkers and to inform others about programs at your Library. I like the Bull Run Library Wiki.

WEB 2.0

Libraries are not just a collection of documents and books, they are conversations,they are convocations of people ideas, and artifacts, in dynamic exchange. Libraries are communities. If Libraries and technology merge together, we would be able to provide all the resources a patron needs in one package.

TECHNORATI

It's mostly technology. It is too advanced for me. As I searched through our website, it lists some programs that we offer.

DEL.ICO.US

I see can see the potential for this tool as a research assistance that can be assessed from anywhere. This site also can be very entertaining through pictures and words.

WEB FEAT

I found web feat to be interesting. I was surprised to see a couple of articles on my hometown, even though they are old. Where I am originally from, is a small rural town.

LIBRARY THINGS

This site can be very useful.It lets you see if other people share the same reading interest as you have. You can see other people ratings and comments on books. I would recomend this site to patrons and co-workers. It lets you keep a record of the books you've read. I love to read. I just can't seem to find the time to read as much as I would like to. I know there are books on CD and cassette. There are some narrators who would put you to sleep, especially if you are driving. I prefer to read the book myself.

RSS

There are some advantages of using the RSS and newsreader. You can have only the information you want to read without having to read everything. It can be an advantage for library use because you have less researching to do.

THE INTERNET

The internet is a very interesting tool. There are good and bad uses of the internet. You can reach out to someone in minutes as if they were right there. You can also search for someone around the world in minutes. It's a good way of keeping in contact with friends and relatives around the world, by email, blogging, or photosharing. You can do all types of researches whether class related or for leisure. you can earn a college degree, high school diploma or self help courses on ine without ever leaving your house. The internet is the information highway of the world.

FLICKR

Everything has a reason for existence. As far as the eye can see their is no ending in sight. Don't put off for tomorrow, what you can do for today, because tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Plan for the the future , but live as today is your last day. To everything there is a season. Some people are put into your life for a reason and some for a season. Be thankful for everything, because there's someome else who would love to be in your shoes. As I look around I realized that im blessed.

BLOGGING

Blogging in Library will be benefitual. Employees can share their feelings about the job and whats going on in the work place anonymously. Employees can share their ideas about programs and crafts.

It is going to be a challenge for me because I am not computer literate. I am not afraid of learning new things. I believe in learning new thiings. You learn from birth to death. You are never to old to learn new things
